“According to the National College Health Assessment Survey, 53% of tertiary students said they felt hopeless, 56% said they were so depressed it was hard to function, and 9.5% said they had seriously considered suicide within the past school year”.
Only 12 per cent of the homeless adults in Vancouver participating in a Simon Fraser University study, who had been diagnosed with a severe mental illness, took their antipsychotic medication at or above the level needed to be effective.
New View Society provides housing for 51 people, Community Living Support for 164 people, and subsidized rent programs for 104 people, all of whom are living with mental illness.
Job Coaching – within a Tertiary care environment providing 1:1 support for various employment related tasks. The ideal goal is to provide employment opportunities for those living with barriers. We are seeking a candidate who enjoys working side by side and connecting with a client group this may involve sorting recycling, folding linen, washing vehicles, and other such entry level employment options. This work includes seeking out employment opportunities for residents in the community at large.

Many times when I cannot rest, I lay awake and I look out my window. The dark black sky, lights up with twinkling stars and the moon shows its reflection. I can hear the sounds of a crackling fireplace coming from my laptop.
When I cannot rest I am on my laptop and I am googling my favorite t v shows for the background. When I cannot sleep or rest, I try to keep my eyes wide open.
