Employment
The New View Society Employment Program provides vocational assistance for people who
have a diagnosed mental illness. This rehabilitation program is a critical step in helping people access
community based employment.
This program is available to New View members and those referred through the Tri-Cities
Mental Health Care Centre.
Services to job seekers include:
v Individual employment
counselling;
v Career development
planning;
v Assets and barriers
identification;
v Job search action
planning;
v Resume preparation and interview
skills;
v Self-directed job search
assistance;
v Educational exploration and
guidance;
v Referral and support
services;
v Labour market
information.
A weekly employment discussion/job search group is also available to New View members.
Dates and times are posted weekly on the employment board at the Clubhouse; all members welcome.
Additional projects that are undertaken through NVS employment services include
temporary, seasonal and part-time contract work.
Information and guidance about successfully employing people living with barriers is
also available to community employers who are seeking to expand and enrich their workplace and ultimately
increase their bottom line.
The Employment Program
also provides employment planning and assistance to individuals living at Cottonwood, Connolly and Cypress
Lodges.
